Northeast Regional Students Leaders' Conference

On Friday, October 24 & Saturday, October 25, Student Program Officers from Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and Connecticut gathered together for a Leadership Conference at the Clarion Hotel in Portland, Maine. Maine had 18 participants from UMaine Presque Isle, UMaine Machias, UMaine Farmington, UMaine, and St. Joseph's college, including student officers and advisors. We kicked off the Conference Friday night with a Maine-themed dinner, including lobster tails, bacon-wrapped scallops, and baked-stuffed haddock. Then we boarded a chartered bus to Freeport for a shopping trip to LL Bean. Each Conference attendee received a $25 gift card to spend at the store!
Saturday was very fun and filled with high-energy as everyone went through various workshops and Chapter planning time. The sessions offered were on "Organizing 101", "Marketing Your Student Program on Campus", and "NEA-SP Grant Writing".

Your student leaders worked hard to do some planning for your Chapters this year and beyond. They all appreciated the time together away from campus to brainstorm ideas and to also network and get ideas from Officers from other states. Below the Maine Officers and Advisors gather for an end-of-Conference group photo! All in all the conference received very high marks and those who participated felt it was a very worth-while experience. Look for exciting things to happen with your Chapters this year!

Thanks to all of you who attended the very first Northeast Regional Student Leaders' Conference!
